Quick Details
Let us get you to see the bears
Starting May 15th of 2025, Sheldon Air Service will offer bear viewing trips from Talkeetna to Chinitna Bay.
Chinitna Bay is part of Lake Clark National Park and Preserver, and located on the west side of the Cook Inlet. The area is accessed in a wheel equipped aircraft . Your pilot and guide will take you on an appropriate 1-1/2 hour flight from Talkeetna down the coast to Chinitina Bay. It is not uncommon to spot moose, bear, seals and Beluga whales while we are on our way. The flight will take you past three active volcanos, Mount Spurr, Mount Redoubt, and Mount Illiamna. We land on a remote beach where the pilot, after securing the airplane above the high tide line, will be your bear guide and take you along the beach to view the bears. We will spot bears in the meadows, along the beach, or during low tide on the flats digging for clams.
